Overview of the Surgical Unit
As a Level 3 trauma facility, our surgical department features 15 operating rooms within the prestigious Spectrum Health System. We are recognized for our excellence in bariatric and total joint surgeries, with approximately 40% of our procedures focusing on total joints and elective spine operations. The remaining 60% encompasses a diverse range of surgeries, including General, Colon/Rectal, Urology, Bariatric, Plastic, and ENT. Our surgical environment is equipped with advanced technology, including 3 Davinci robots, a Mako robot, as well as Mazor and Stealth systems.

Responsibilities of the Surgical Technologist
The Surgical Technologist is accountable for the organization of the surgical suite, the meticulous handling of instruments during procedures, the maintenance of a sterile environment, and the assessment of dynamic conditions throughout surgical interventions, responding appropriately as required. This role necessitates a comprehensive understanding of surgical procedures and principles. The Surgical Technologist may also take on the role of a Preceptor.

Required Qualifications
- An Associate's Degree or equivalent is mandatory.
- Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program is required; not all programs confer an Associate's degree.
- Experience as a Surgical Technologist is preferred (clinical rotations are considered valid experience).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC is required within 90 days of hire.
Work Environment
This position involves part-time employment with variable shifts.
