Compensation: $22 per hour

The Behavior Support Specialist is responsible for delivering educational and behavioral interventions to individuals with special needs. This role involves collaboration with educational staff and behavioral experts to meet specified learning and behavioral objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to directives from the BCBA, educators, and program coordinators
  • Employs behavior management strategies including prevention, intervention, and consequence measures
  • Provides support during crisis situations
  • Reviews and executes behavior intervention strategies
  • Implements tasks related to behavioral and ABA objectives outlined in an IEP under the guidance of an instructor
  • Assists in delivering academic instruction as directed by teaching staff
  • Supports the development plans for SLP, OT, and PT
  • Maintains accurate documentation of sessions in accordance with policies
  • Collects behavioral and academic data with precision and efficiency
  • Upholds confidentiality standards rigorously
  • Facilitates the growth of independent living skills in students through daily self-care routines
  • Provides support to students in various settings (e.g., classroom, playground, cafeteria, gym, sensory room, library)
  • Performs additional duties as required

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory
  • Preferred experience: Two (2) years in pediatric care
  • Adheres to all applicable professional standards
  • Completion of Amergis' Competency program as necessary
  • Current CPR certification if applicable
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray as required
  • Valid health certificate as per contract or state regulations
  • Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
  • Successful completion of new hire training relevant to the job site
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations
  • Strong communication skills; proficiency in English is essential
  • Proficient in computer usage
  • Must be at least 18 years old
