Job Summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Radiology Assistant to join our team. As a Radiology Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our radiology team by assisting with imaging exams, performing clerical duties, and maintaining high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with diagnostic exams, including minor trauma, fluoroscopy, minor surgery, and routine studies
  • Acquire requisitions and check for appropriate clinical information
  • Obtain necessary supplies and prepare rooms for patients
  • Access patient conditions and levels of cooperation, making appropriate judgments for proper care
  • Notify nurses and chart all infiltrates and reactions
  • Quality-check films before sending to radiologists, including markers and pertinent information
  • Write additional information as needed
  • Keep rooms clean and stocked at all times
  • Respond to codes and emergency situations appropriately
  • Explain procedures to patients, introduce yourself, and identify the department
  • Inform patients and families of delays
  • Assist other technologists when not busy in assigned areas
  • Charge procedures and supplies when exams are completed
  • Add surgical charges when necessary
  • Operate the PACS system appropriately and verify studies before sending to archives
  • Report equipment problems to supervisors, in-charge techs, and document confirmation numbers
  • Maintain student confidentiality

Student Radiology Technologist Transition

Upon completion of the ARRT radiology registry, a promotion will be awarded from a student tech position to a vacant radiology technologist position. The promotion wage increase will be based on passing the radiology tech registry. Benefits and sign-on bonuses will also be awarded if eligible based on position.

Requirements

Education: High School Degree or equivalent

Work Experience: 0-2 years of work experience
