Job Summary
Cleveland Clinic's G101 Transplant Specialty Care Unit is a 34-bed unit that specializes in kidney, pancreas, liver, and intestine surgeries. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in this unit, you will provide direct nursing care, implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans. You will also administer prescribed medications and treatments, note and carry out physician and nursing orders, assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs, and educate patients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing transplant surgeries.
- Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments as ordered by physicians.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders to ensure timely and effective patient care.
- Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs to ensure a smooth transition to home or other healthcare settings.
- Educate patients and their families on transplant care and recovery.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- One-year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
Physical Requirements
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
