Job Summary:

UPMC Somerset is seeking a Full-time Registered Nurse to support the Same Day Services areas, which also include the PACU & GI Departments. This role will work 8-hour shifts with variable start times and includes rotating on-call requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Supervision: Under the general supervision of the Director, Coordinator or Manager, the Registered Nurse plans, assesses, implements and evaluates nursing care of patients in the assigned area.
  • Patient Care and Education: The Registered Nurse is expected to have leadership skills to supervise other personnel and provide age-appropriate education to patients.
  • Clinical Skills and Critical Thinking: The Registered Nurse performs and delegates patient care and non-patient care activities as required for the daily operation of the department.
  • Communication and Documentation: The Registered Nurse documents patient conditions and communicates updates to medical staff and services.
  • Professional Development: The Registered Nurse engages in ongoing professional development on and off the unit and seeks ways to enhance workflow efficiency and reduce care costs.
  • Customer Relations: The Registered Nurse fosters a positive environment, ensuring good customer relations.
  • Licensure and Certifications: The Registered Nurse is required to have a Registered Nurse (RN) license, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hire, Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Act 33 with renewal, Act 34 with renewal, and Act 73 FBI Clearance with Renewal.

Requirements:

  • Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
  • 1 year critical care, general medical/surgical nursing, or previous phase 1 & 2 recovery experience.
