Position Overview:
The Software Engineer will be responsible for the development and testing of cutting-edge surgical devices and robotic instruments for the da Vinci Surgical System. This role requires an individual who excels in a dynamic team environment and can make informed decisions under pressure, which is common in new product development.

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, test, and develop next-generation surgical devices and robotic instruments.
- Work closely with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams to ensure design requirements are met and effectively integrated.
- Support the development and testing of robotic instruments across various platforms.
- Develop, implement, and document solutions that align with clinical and market needs.
- Create testing methodologies for both manual and automated software verification.
- Provide rapid prototype firmware and iterative design support for new technologies.
- Assist in resolving field and manufacturing issues and provide technical support to stakeholders.

Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required, with a preference for a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
- At least 2 years of experience in software development, particularly in embedded systems using C/C++ in a Linux environment.
- Familiarity with software configuration management tools and defect tracking systems.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, across all organizational levels.
- A passion for problem-solving and a commitment to continuous learning.

Additional Skills:
- Experience with Python for module and system-level testing.
- Knowledge of Verilog and assembly language is a plus.
- Experience with FDA-regulated product development is advantageous.
