As a Medical Assistant in our Orthopedic Department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our healthcare team. Under the supervision of the Office Supervisor, you will be responsible for initial patient triage, registration, and patient intake services, as well as assisting with direct patient care and performing specialized medical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with direct patient care procedures and related tasks, including checking in patients, obtaining patient histories, taking vital signs, and preparing charts.
- Accurately transcribe physicians' orders, complete necessary forms, requisitions, and communications to implement orders.
- Schedule and monitor patient appointments, coordinate routine office activities, and perform administrative functions in support of unit activities.
- Perform routine specialized procedures, including sterile dressing changes under established protocols.
- Maintain stocks of medicines and medical supplies as necessary.
- Assist with orientation of other clerical personnel to the department.
- Educate and advise patients on specified medical issues within established parameters.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Current CPR training required.
- Successful completion of CMA or CNA Program preferred.
- Completion of a Medical Terminology course preferred.
- One to three years' experience in Orthopedics preferred.
- Prior computer experience required.
- One to three years' experience as a nursing or medical assistant or in a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in a hospital environment preferred.
