Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Soliant. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement IEPs: Create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, including setting academic and behavioral goals, selecting appropriate instructional strategies, and monitoring progress.
  • Provide Direct Instruction: Provide direct instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, adapting curriculum materials and instructional methods to meet individual student needs and learning styles.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure the effective inclusion and participation of students with disabilities in general education settings and activities.
  • Assess Student Progress: Assess student progress and performance using a variety of assessment tools and methods, and use data to inform instructional planning and decision-making.
  • Provide Accommodations and Modifications: Provide accommodations, modifications, and assistive technology to support student learning and access to the curriculum.
  • Implement Behavior Management Strategies: Implement behavior management strategies and supports to address challenging behaviors and promote positive social-emotional development.
  • Maintain Accurate Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress, attendance, and services provided in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Participate in Professional Development: Participate in professional development activities and collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching practices and support the needs of students with disabilities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Kentucky Teaching Certification: Kentucky teaching certification in Special Education (P-12) or eligibility for certification through the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB).
  • Knowledge of Special Education Laws and Regulations: Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Kentucky's special education regulations.
  • Strong Understanding of Diverse Learning Needs: Strong understanding of diverse learning needs and effective instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
  • Excellent Communication and Collaboration Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to Equity and Inclusion: Commitment to equity, inclusion, and meeting the individual needs of all students.
