Job Summary:

The Surgical Technologist, under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and Surgical Services Manager, assists in the performance of a variety of both invasive and non-invasive operative procedures. Technical responsibilities include functioning in the role of Surgical Technologist for surgical procedures, and the knowledge of aseptic technique needed to carry out the procedure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Check supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure.
  • Set up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
  • Perform appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed.
  • Gown and glove surgeon and assistants.
  • Help in draping sterile field and pass instruments, etc., to surgeon during procedure.
  • Prepare sterile dressings and clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
  • Assist other members of team with terminal cleaning of room and prepping room for next patients.

Requirements:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Certified Surgical Technician (CST).
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience is preferred.
