Job Summary

The City of Dallas is seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to manage and lead engineering projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, engineering principles, and technical expertise.

The Senior Engineer will be responsible for managing and leading engineering projects, including planning, design, bid preparation, cost estimation, and monitoring of construction compliance. The candidate will also be responsible for supervising staff, conducting studies, research, and other activities involving engineering problem-solving.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of city ordinances, design manuals, engineering standards, state and federal regulations, and professional ethics. They will also have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, consultants, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead engineering projects from inception to completion
  • Supervise staff and conduct studies, research, and other activities involving engineering problem-solving
  • Develop and review engineering plans to ensure compliance with city, state, and federal standards
  • Manage the bidding process for construction contracts and prepare agenda, factsheet, and contract information package
  • Collaborate with consultants, inspectors, contractors, and other stakeholders to successfully complete projects
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to less experienced engineers and project coordinators
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in engineering or higher from a program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology (EAC/ABET)
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience as a Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Professional Engineer License from the State of Texas
