As a Perioperative Nurse with Surgery Partners, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care in the operating room. You will be responsible for directing and/or providing professional perioperative nursing care for an assigned group of patients across the age continuum.
You will utilize the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to direct or provide nursing care. Additionally, you will provide supervision and guidance to other members of the operating room staff and may be authorized to make decisions affecting the operating of the surgical suite.
Responsibilities:- Direct and/or provide professional perioperative nursing care for an assigned group of patients
- Utilize the nursing process to direct or provide nursing care
- Provide supervision and guidance to other members of the operating room staff
- May be authorized to make decisions affecting the operating of the surgical suite
- Float to other patient care areas (Pre-op, PACU) and Central Sterile Department to enhance organizational efficiency
- Registered Nurse; Current licensure in the State of Texas
- Certification as a perioperative nurse (CNOR) preferred
- BLS and renew every 2 years prior to expiration
- ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of employment or sooner if covering call or conscious sedation and renew both every 2 years prior to expiration
- Previous experience as a perioperative nurse preferred but may receive on the job training here at TPCH
- Ability to relate and work effectively with others
- Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards
- Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own professional advancement
May be expected to lift up to 50 pounds or up to 150 pounds with assistance. May be expected to push or pull 500 pounds with assistance. Work is of medium demand; walking or standing most of the time while on duty. Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required.
OSHA Exposure Classification:Job Classification I. Direct contact with blood or other body fluids to which universal precautions apply. Personal protective equipment is made available and must be worn.
