As a key member of the team, you will be tasked with executing routine preventative maintenance and repairs on a diverse range of vehicles and equipment within the Municipal Fleet.
SUPERVISION:
Reports directly to senior supervisory and management personnel.
1. Conducts regular preventive maintenance on vehicles and/or equipment, including oil changes, tire assessments, fluid checks, and may employ computerized diagnostic tools.
- May be designated to the Municipal Golf Course for ongoing maintenance and repairs on the golf course fleet throughout the operational season.
- Handles mechanical repairs and overhaul tasks on various types of light equipment, such as mowers and power tools, in addition to light and heavy-duty vehicles and trucks. May assist with larger machinery like backhoes, front-end loaders, graders, dump trucks, tractors, paving equipment, street sweepers, and snow plows.
- Performs basic fabrication and repairs on metal components utilizing welding tools.
- Documents daily service notes on work orders, including parts and supplies utilized in vehicle maintenance and repairs.
- Collaborates with fellow mechanics to assist in mechanical repairs as necessary.
- Acts as a representative of the City of Casper by engaging with the public, citizens, and employees in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while consistently upholding a positive customer service attitude.
- Undertakes additional duties of a similar nature or level as required.

- Accurately assess mechanical repair needs and estimate repair costs and timelines.
- Communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
- Follow both written and verbal instructions and directives.
- Adhere to all City safety regulations and promptly report any accidents or unsafe conditions to a supervisor.

- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) is required.
- A minimum of six months of experience in automotive maintenance and repair is necessary.
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver's license is preferred.

Positions in this class typically require various physical activities, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Medium work:
Involves exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, odors, chemicals, high noise levels, and extreme weather conditions while using various types of equipment.
