Location: Oakland Ice Center
Employment Status: Part-time, Non-exempt
Compensation: $22.50 per hour
Position Overview:
The Skating Instructor is responsible for imparting the technical skills of skating while ensuring a positive and enjoyable experience for all participants at the Oakland Ice Center.
Work Schedule:
- Must be available for approximately two-thirds of scheduled events each month, including weekends and select holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate attendance records for classes.
- Be knowledgeable about the maneuvers taught at each level of the skating curriculum.
- Determine which skills to teach and review during classes.
- Create a fun, engaging, and organized class environment.
- Meet and exceed participant expectations.
- Encourage the development of social skills among students.
- Prepare progress assessments and certificates for participants.
- Stay informed about current skating rules and trends.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to wear the designated uniform during shifts.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends.
- Demonstrated success in ice skating or coaching.
- Ability to work effectively with both youth and adults.
- Familiarity with skating programs and organizations.
- Capability to stand on skates for extended periods.
