The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for overseeing, supervising, and participating in the maintenance and repair of college buildings and grounds. This role requires a high level of expertise in facilities management, with a focus on ensuring the smooth operation of campus facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Trains, assigns, directs, supervises, participates, and evaluates the work of employees engaged in performing skilled and semi-skilled buildings and grounds maintenance and repair duties.
  • Responds to emergency requests for repairs and ensures that all maintenance and repair work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintains records and logs of items such as time and materials expended on each work order and brief description of work performed.
  • Uses, distributes, orders, and maintains materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Plans and directs carpentry and renovation projects, ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard.
  • Maintains fire alarms, extinguishers, sprinkler, and security systems, ensuring that all systems are functioning properly.
  • Applies insecticides by use of sprayer as directed and by adhering to necessary safety precautions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of related experience.
  • Previous experience of at least one year in a supervisor position overseeing the maintenance and grounds of a facility to include chillers, boilers, and general day-to-day maintenance operations.

Working Conditions

Maintenance Supervisors split their time between shop and office work, observing workers throughout the building, going outdoors to supervise groundskeeping activities, working on equipment, ordering parts, and visiting other campuses as directed.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Maintenance Supervisors may have to stand for long periods or lift heavy objects, working in uncomfortably hot or cold environments, in uncomfortable or cramped positions, climbing ladders, or sitting at a computer to order parts, manage the work order system, and manage personnel records.

Benefits

Annual salary $49,640. Benefits include 13 paid state holidays, vacation, retirement, personal and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits Program.
