Transforming Building Operations
Come join the Autodesk Tandem product team to revolutionize how buildings are designed, built, and operated. Buildings account for up to 50% of operational carbon emissions, and 30% of energy is wasted due to poor design and operating decisions.
At Autodesk Tandem, we're on a mission to empower building operators with their data. We're hiring a Principal Software Engineer who has experience building modern cloud services. You will report to the Director of Tandem Insights in this remote position.
Responsibilities
- Design a new cloud-based software system for data analytics, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security
- Accelerate a new team's development by diving in and actively coding. Take a hands-on approach to propel progress as needed throughout the product lifecycle
- Conduct thorough code reviews to maintain high code quality standards, and mentor team members on best practices
- Partner closely with developers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to turn high-level requirements into product enhancements that are delivered to customers incrementally and continually
- Document and present your ideas and solutions accurately and thoroughly to a variety of audiences
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or similar field
- 8-10 years of hands-on experience in software development
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks, along with a deep understanding of software design principles and patterns
- Proven ability to design and architect scalable, reliable, secure distributed systems
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, and to articulate complex technical concepts clearly
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building production data pipelines
- Experience with building systems and building systems data
- Experience with Go, Python, React/JavaScript, WebGL
- Experience building, deploying, and orchestrating containerized workloads

Salary Transparency
Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $141,400 and $228,800. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range.
In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
