We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Assist and support Professional Registered Nurses in all aspects of direct and indirect patient care activities.
- Perform various tasks to ensure a safe and clean environment, including maintaining temperature logs, defrosting and cleaning refrigerators, and restocking supplies.
- Collect and inventory patient belongings on admission, transfer, and discharge.
- Complete charges using appropriate documentation and order supplies online or requisition as needed.
- Assure room readiness for incoming patients and check designated equipment for proper functioning.
- Count instruments and sterile trays sent and received from the Sterile Processing Department.
- Stock and remove linen from patient rooms and set up and break down delivery tables.
- Participate in staff meetings, quality improvement activities, and daily/weekly/monthly quality control checks.
- Assist with pre-and post-operative care, position patients as ordered, and apply special equipment for safety.
- Provide morning care, bed baths, and evening care according to established Nursing Care Procedures.
- Respond to emergency situations, secure assistance, and initiate basic life support as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
This is a full-time evening shift position, working 40 hours per week. Alternating weekends are required. The Patient Care Technician will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
