Job Summary:
As a Carpenter at Tarrant County College District, you will be responsible for constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, wallboard, and related materials. You will work under the supervision of the Construction Leader and be expected to perform a variety of tasks, including studying blueprints, selecting materials, and assembling structures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Study blueprints and sketches to determine the type of materials required and the dimensions of the structure or fixture to be fabricated
  • Select and prepare materials, including lumber and other materials, for construction
  • Assemble and install structures, including stairs, partitions, and cabinet work
  • Lay subflooring and cover it with building paper to prevent moisture damage
  • Apply shock-absorbing, sound-deadening, and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls
  • Fabricate and install prefabricated window frames, doors, and doorframes
  • Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures at ground level
  • Perform building walk-throughs to identify and address preventative maintenance tasks
  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment, and perform inventory of materials

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of journeyman-level experience in carpentry, including work in all phases of the trade
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Work experience in higher education
