Responsibilities
  • Maintain thorough supervision of residents, assisting them in meeting treatment goals, including phase evaluations and advancements.
  • Utilize Relational Approach interventions to model appropriate behavior, set effective limits, and redirect negative behaviors.
  • Record interactions with clients according to Community Care Licensing, County, and SCCS guidelines.
  • Conduct clothing/personal property inventories and contraband checks.
  • Identify potential safety risks and take necessary precautions, following reporting procedures as needed.
  • Assist with restraints to prevent serious injury to residents and staff.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and participate in required meetings.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must meet one of the following requirements:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  2. Valid Child Development Teaching Permit.
  3. Completed 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, or Foster and Kinship Care Education, with 100 hours of experience working with youth.
  4. A valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor, or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, with 100 hours of experience working with youth.
  5. A valid vocational training certificate or documentation demonstrating expertise in teaching children vocational skills, with 100 hours of experience working with youth.
  6. Previous employment as a full-time staff member or volunteer at a group home, STRTP, or substance abuse treatment program for at least one year.
  7. Relevant life experience in the child welfare, mental health, or juvenile justice systems as a consumer, mentor, caregiver, or other relevant experience.

You must be at least 21 years old and have a valid CA driver's license and proof of automobile insurance.

Licensure, Registration, Certification

We require completion of CPR/First Aid and Pro-ACT certification upon hiring.

Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform de-escalation and crisis management skills.
  • Ability to remain organized and work in a high-pressure environment.
  • Establish and maintain rapport with children, youth, and families.
  • Work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Familiarity with the child-welfare system.
Physical Requirements

This role requires:

  • The ability to drive a motor vehicle without restrictions, often in heavy traffic and frequently long distances.
  • Sufficient senses of vision, hearing, and smell to operate a motor vehicle safely.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of 10-20 pounds.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, climb stairs, and walk while in route to and during family visits.
  • Regularly required to sit and use a computer in office settings.
Salary

We offer a competitive salary range of $19-$23 per hour.
