Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Meat Market Associate to join our team at Piggly Wiggly Independence Meat Market. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maximizing sales and profit in the Meat Department through proper cutting, wrapping, and displaying of meat products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Break down, cut, and trim all meat products as directed by the Meat Market Manager and company standards.
  • Identify various cuts of meat, weigh, wrap, and package products in a clean, neat, and attractive package that customers will want to purchase.
  • Write down customers' special orders and requests.
  • Prepare and organize the cooler, freezer, backroom, and preparation area for receipt of merchandise, unload trucks, verify the merchandise against the invoice, inspect the delivery for quality, shortages, and damage, sort cases for stocking or product preparation, and code date the product.
  • Clean and sanitize department floors, mirror, case, racks, tables, cooler, freezer, department equipment, etc.
  • Load stocking carts and pallets, transport cases and products to the sales floor, cooler, freezer, or product preparation area on either stocking cars or pallets.
  • Assure the safety of self, customers, and co-workers by understanding and practicing store safety rules and notifying a supervisor of any potential hazard immediately.
  • Show a stable work and/or educational history, basic mathematical ability, and be able to safely operate store and department equipment.
  • Follow directions, be hospitable to co-workers, assist customers with purchases and/or carrying/loading of groceries, and comply with company policies and procedures.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must be able to perform the physical functions of the job, including reaching, pulling, heavy lifting (up to 80lbs), long hours standing on tile/concrete, walking, climbing, and working in various weather, temperatures, and humidity levels.
