Vehicle Repair Foreman

The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor will collaborate with all team members within the Fleet Maintenance division to manage and support the daily oversight, coordination, and performance of employees involved in the maintenance, servicing, and repair of the various processing equipment utilized by GFL Environmental.

This role requires a reliable, motivated, and organized individual who can consistently achieve established standards and deadlines.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise service and repair staff by delegating tasks, monitoring repair progress, performing necessary repairs, and evaluating the performance of shop personnel.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager/General Manager to schedule inspections, servicing, or repairs for equipment such as motor vehicles, compaction machinery, and other tools used by the division.
  • Organize and plan repairs using the TMW planner and ensure all necessary parts are procured for successful execution.
  • Oversee the tire management program and participate in all tire disposal activities.
  • Manage purchase orders on a monthly basis and ensure TMW aligns with the Corporate Purchasing Card.
  • Conduct month-end closing activities, including all end-of-month reports and maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Authorize and arrange the procurement of supplies, tools, uniforms, and machinery, as well as contracts for external repair services with the approval of the Maintenance Manager/General Manager.
  • Adhere to policies regarding the inspection, maintenance, and repair of vehicles.
  • Assess and determine the cause and extent of damage to vehicles or property resulting from accidents.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager/General Manager in the recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of service and repair staff.
  • Identify and facilitate ongoing training for service and repair personnel.
  • Maintain all required vehicle inspections, maintenance, and safety records as mandated by federal, state, or local regulations and company policies.
  • Serve as a backup for the Shop Supervisor/Maintenance Manager in their absence.
  • Execute other job-related responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with the Vehicle Inspection program.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills across a variety of machinery and equipment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft software and the ability to adapt to new software applications.
  • Excellent communication, management, and organizational skills.
