About the Opportunity

We're excited to offer this unique opportunity for a seasoned Compliance and Risk professional to join our team at MUFG. As a key member of our compliance department, you'll play a critical role in ensuring that our organization operates in a safe and compliant manner.

In this role, you'll be responsible for providing AML compliance support to assigned functions, serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on all matters related to AML/BSA compliance. You'll work closely with First and Second Lines of Defense to identify and mitigate AML risk, providing full advisory services on all applicable money laundering risk, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA PATRIOT Act, and U.S. Treasury AML guidelines.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Understanding AML risk that presents itself in the form of complex and layered business ownership and relationships, including corporate structures involving off-shore entities and agents.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in risks that corporate banking relationships and products can pose for AML risks.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of investment banking products and services, including but not limited to, derivatives, swaps, project finance, commodities and structured finance, and securitization.
  • Transaction Banking: understands the AML risk that presents itself in the form of complex products and services, including treasury management with money and transaction movements, demonstrated knowledge of SWIFT payment processes, correspondent banking, cash management services, ACH, and other methods of electronic funds transfers including how these can be used for money laundering and the controls required for these risks.
  • Capital Markets: understands the AML risks present in capital markets clients, products and services. To include, but not limited to, foreign exchange, securities trading, underwriting.


Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years in banking, with a strong emphasis on BSA, AML and OFAC laws and regulations.
  • Candidates must have AML experience within the applicable lines of business supported. CAMS certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience in analyzing or managing financial crime investigative processes and policies (i.e. KYC, SARs, etc). Experience interacting with senior managers and compliance subject matter experts
  • Collaborative with strong interpersonal communication skills. Process oriented coupled with a strong ability to develop appropriate program enhancing strategies.
  • Detail-oriented and organized execution. Bachelor degree and/or equivalent relevant experience.
