Bartender Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Bartender to join our team at Heritage Restaurants. As a Bartender, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our guests while preparing and serving a wide range of beverages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take beverage orders from guests and servers, ensuring accurate and timely service.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with our standard drink recipes, using a high level of attention to detail.
  • Develop a strong knowledge of our regular guests, learning their names and preferences to provide personalized service.
  • Record drink orders accurately and immediately after receipt into our register system, maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Accept guest payment, process credit card charges, and make change as needed, handling cash and operating a cash register with ease.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, washing and sterilizing glassware, and preparing garnishes for drinks.
  • Clear and reset tables in the bar area, ensuring a clean and welcoming environment for our guests.
  • Present drink menus, make recommendations, and answer questions regarding beverages, providing expert knowledge and guidance.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness in all areas of the bar, including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves, and storage areas.
  • Receive and serve food orders to guests seated at the bar, providing a seamless dining experience.
  • Report any equipment problems or bar maintenance issues to the restaurant manager, ensuring prompt attention and resolution.
  • Assist with restocking and replenishing bar inventory and supplies, maintaining a well-stocked and organized bar area.
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant, as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Be 21 years of age, as required by law.
  • Be able to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of our guests, providing exceptional service and ensuring a positive experience.
  • Have a working knowledge of beer, wine, and liquor, as well as common drink recipes, to provide expert guidance and recommendations.
  • Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a cash register, maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time, up to 5 hours, and be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must possess current T.A.B.C. Certification, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
