Ryder is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic/Technician to join our team in Charlotte, North Carolina. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electronic issues, and ensuring our fleet of heavy-duty vehicles is in top condition.
Key Responsibilities- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including routine preventative maintenance and component inspections
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electronic issues, utilizing diagnostic computer tools as needed
- Identify root causes of basic failures and perform repairs as required
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Perform facility maintenance duties and interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
- Competitive hourly pay: $29.00 per hour
- Certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
- Quarterly bonus: Ryder pays up to $500 every quarter, four times per year
- Sign-on bonus: Ryder pays $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
- Annual merit pay increases every year
- On-the-job paid training
- Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and other benefits start at 30 days
- 12 weeks of paid maternity leave
- Paid time off starts accruing at day one, with 80 hours per year
- Additional day off for U.S. military veterans
