Extrusion Line Optimization Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer III - Extrusion to join our team at Rain Bird. This key role involves driving new process development, troubleshooting, equipment installation, training, documentation, testing, and overall enhancements of our extrusion lines.

• Support safety enhancement initiatives on the extrusion lines, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for extruded products, maximizing efficiency, yield, and productivity.
• Define and refine pre/post processes to achieve optimal results, leveraging Lean and Six Sigma techniques.
• Provide engineering support by troubleshooting extrusion processes and tooling, defining maintenance requirements, and performing sustaining engineering functions as needed.
• Support new product development, resolve quality issues, and drive process improvements using FMEA and Design of Experiments.
• Implement corrective actions in projects and daily operations, innovating and justifying significant product design improvements to reduce costs through alternative materials, redesign, and labor optimization.
• Be available for travel and maintain a flexible schedule, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 5+ years of related experience, preferably with hands-on experience in plastic extrusion, particularly with LLDPE/LDPE materials.
• Proven expertise in troubleshooting and resolving processing and equipment issues, with strong project management skills and excellent communication abilities.
• Proficiency in Six Sigma and Lean techniques, with experience in Design of Experiments and Measurement Systems Analyses, as well as demonstrated success in improving processes and increasing line efficiencies.
• Ability to educate and address technical processes, with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project).

The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of extrusion processes, with experience in equipment improvement projects and a proven track record of delivering results. Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year.
