Electrical Design Engineer

At IPS, we're seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our electrical design team, you'll be responsible for overseeing the entire design process or assisting as a technical expert on specialized design projects. Your expertise will be invaluable in assessing project requirements, breaking them down into manageable tasks, and working with project managers to determine scope, budget, and staffing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess project requirements and develop electrical design scopes of work
  • Research design options and prepare electrical design studies and schematic designs
  • Analyze existing systems and create specialized drawings, such as electrical riser diagrams
  • Estimate costs, review contractor applications, and coordinate document completion
  • Mentor junior staff and share knowledge with the electrical design team

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Experience with building electrical systems, including power distribution, generators, lighting, fire alarm, security, and low-voltage systems
  • Proficiency in computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD/Revit) and engineering design programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) in good standing
  • Pharmaceutical, biotech, or life science industry experience
  • Experience with medium-voltage systems, electrical hazardous classified areas, and telecommunications systems
