Urologist Position at New Outpatient Clinic

Position Overview:
The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a dedicated Staff Urologist to provide exceptional care to Veterans at a newly established outpatient clinic.

Facility Details:
This state-of-the-art outpatient clinic offers a comprehensive range of medical and ancillary services, including pre- and post-operative telemedicine surgical services, as well as traditional clinic and procedural spaces.

Responsibilities:
The Urologist will report to the Chief of Urology within the Surgical Services Department and will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of urological care. Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and triaging urology consults and referrals.
  • Coordinating urology clinics with a focus on advanced clinical access.
  • Conducting pre-operative assessments and post-operative care.
  • Engaging in contracts with local healthcare facilities.

The role encompasses all facets of general urology, including:

  • Providing outpatient urological care, both invasive and non-invasive.
  • Performing pre and post-operative evaluations and routine follow-ups.
  • Executing outpatient surgical procedures at local hospitals and minor clinic procedures (e.g., cystoscopy, prostate biopsy, vasectomy).

Additional Opportunities:
There is an opportunity to work at a nearby medical center 1-4 days per month to maintain surgical skills and apply for a Volunteer Clinical Faculty appointment, collaborating with residents from affiliated medical centers.

Work Schedule:
This position operates Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with no evening, weekend, holiday, or on-call duties required.

Incentives:
A recruitment incentive (sign-on bonus) is authorized for qualified candidates.

Candidate Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or PRA.
  • Hold a current, full, unrestricted medical license in any state.
  • Be board prepared or certified in Urology.
  • Confirm vaccination for seasonal influenza.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in general urology is preferred, with board eligibility or certification.
