The ideal candidate will be tasked with safeguarding North American Coal's assets against theft, vandalism, unauthorized access, fire, and any other incidents that may compromise the safety of personnel and property at the mining site.

Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage access control at the primary mine entrance, ensuring proper check-in and check-out procedures for all vehicles and personnel.
  • Conduct routine surveillance and patrols across the mining area to deter theft, vandalism, and unauthorized activities.
  • Engage professionally with mine staff, contractors, vendors, and the public.
  • Respond swiftly and appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Provide first aid assistance at medical emergencies or accident sites and manage traffic as needed.
  • Monitor CCTV and alarm systems, ensuring they are operational and responding appropriately to alerts.
  • Document shift activities clearly and concisely, reporting any issues immediately.
  • Possess a valid driver's license for North Dakota, adhere to safe driving practices, and operate company vehicles in various weather conditions while maintaining cleanliness and safety.
  • Safeguard organizational information by maintaining confidentiality.
  • Perform duties in compliance with MSHA regulations, company safety protocols, and applicable state and federal laws.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Identify potential security risks and suggest enhancements.
  • Participate in training sessions.
  • Undertake other assigned tasks as required.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting with minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivated and responsible, capable of making sound decisions autonomously.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including up to 12-hour periods.
  • Customer service-oriented with proficient computer, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • A minimum of two years of experience in security, law enforcement, or criminal justice is required. A two-year degree in a related field may substitute for experience.
  • Preferred qualifications include Emergency Medical Services training at the Emergency First Responder (EMR) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) level.
  • A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
Compensation ranges from $23 to $28 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Comprehensive medical, dental, health benefits, and a 401(k) plan are available from the first day of employment. The work schedule typically consists of four 10-hour shifts per week, with Sundays and holidays generally off.
