Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook meals for residents and staff, adhering to dietary requirements and menu plans.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen environment, including equipment and utensils.
  • Monitor food temperatures and document consumption logs.
  • Order and receive food and supplies, and manage inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with the dining room staff to ensure timely and efficient meal service.
  • Participate in in-service trainings and cross-training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures, and maintain a safe working environment.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary training or experience preferred.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays, and flexible scheduling as needed.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, staff, and vendors.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and move about the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Physical stamina to perform duties with functional eyesight and hearing, and to work in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:

The cook will work in a warm environment, with frequent walking indoors and outdoors throughout the shift. The position requires the ability to work in a team environment, with minimal supervision, and to maintain confidentiality of resident and staff information.

Selection Criteria:

The successful candidate will be required to pass a NYS DOH background check, a physical exam, and meet the health standards for communicable diseases.
