The Speech-Language Pathologist in an educational environment is tasked with conducting assessments and delivering therapy services tailored to each student's needs, in alignment with the established care plan and physician directives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate students' communication abilities (e.g., articulation, fluency, voice, expressive and receptive language) to identify communication disorders, assess eligibility for programs, and formulate treatment recommendations.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to share information, address concerns, and ensure compliance with established protocols.
- Organize meetings and processes for eligible students (e.g., assessments, IEPs, parent meetings) to present evaluation findings, create treatment strategies, and provide training to parents, students, and staff.
- Design treatment plans, interventions, and educational resources aimed at reducing the impact of communication disorders while adhering to regulatory standards.
- Guide eligible students in utilizing appropriate communication technologies (e.g., hearing aids, FM systems, augmentative communication devices).
- Maintain comprehensive records (e.g., progress reports, activity logs, treatment plans) to track student progress and ensure compliance.
- Engage in professional development through meetings, workshops, and seminars.
- Deliver speech and language therapy to students to enhance their communication skills and academic success.
- Seek ongoing professional growth through in-service training and development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Active Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Licensure in the relevant state.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) is preferred and may be required.
- Adhere to all relevant professional standards and practices.
- Complete Amergis' Competency program as applicable.
- Current CPR certification, if necessary.
- TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray as required.
- Current Health certificate as per contract or state regulations.
- Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successful completion of new hire training relevant to the position.
- Understand and maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and proficiency in English.
- Possess computer proficiency.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
