Community Engagement Specialist

This position plays a crucial role in supporting the development and maintenance of relationships with community members and partners through the creation of strategies, planning, facilitation, and expansion of services for the Great Plains Tribal Leaders Health Board.
The Community Engagement Coordinator will support inclusive community engagement through effective communication, engagement, coordination, and participation in local community events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend meetings of various community groups and individuals affected by the GPTLHB programs and build positive community partnerships.
- Assist in designing programs and developing techniques to foster public participation in the planning process.
- Respond to and make referrals regarding information requests from the public pertaining to GPTLHB programs.
- Develop a community-relations-educational program for customer owners and the community at large, highlighting the benefits of the GPTLHB programs.
- Assist with development and management of marketing materials, website updates, and social media presence on behalf of the GPTLHB; write, review, and edit drafted works for publication and distribution to internal and external customers; and ensure consistent corporate branding, messaging development, and distribution.
- Develop branded materials as needed, including PowerPoint templates, RFQs, and other supporting materials.
- Actively market and promote GPTLHB news, including formal press release distribution, article development, social media, etc.
- Provide complete, understandable, and accurate information about the GPTLHB and its divisions to the general public, project members, Tribal organizations, and governmental agencies.
- Assist with the development, distribution, and content of the GPTLHB newsletter.
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing GPTLHB events and assist other GPTLHB departments with organizational events; serve as a lead Event Planner for large events, communicate with vendors, negotiate contracts, create event agendas, coordinate presenters' schedules, and assign work duties to other members of the team; and ensure events are in line with allocated funding.
- Serve as the point-of-contact and coordinate official visits and tours of GPTLHB operations, including guest support, and coordination of presentations, tours, media, photography, etc.
- Work with all GPTLHB departments and foster relationships with leadership, staff, and external customers.
- Protect patient privacy and confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.

Education/Experience/Certificates/Credentials:
Minimum education required is an Associate's degree or equivalent, a Bachelor's degree preferred; other education and experience considered.
A minimum of three (3) years' related experience. Experience working with a tribal healthcare system is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to be detail-oriented.
Proficiency with computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other Internet technologies.
Experience that indicates the ability to interact effectively with leaders among American Indian communities, government agencies, scientific and academic communities, medical and health-related organizations, nongovernmental groups, and the public at large is required.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
