Position Summary

V2X is seeking an RF Engineer to contribute to projects at the Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River. The selected candidate will assist in acquisition initiatives by navigating the equipment spectrum certification process, ensuring compliance for spectrum-dependent systems. This role involves creating Spectrum Supportability Risk Assessments (SSRA), developing certification packages utilizing NTIA software tools such as EL-CID online, collaborating with the Navy Marine Corps Spectrum Center (NMSC), and facilitating spectrum assignment processes.


Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties:

  • Conduct and document Spectrum Supportability Risk Assessments (SSRA) for Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition programs at various development phases.
  • Utilize multiple spectrum and frequency allocation databases to gather information on relevant systems and apply findings to different platforms.
  • Analyze and assess spectrum-dependent system characteristics and performance criteria.
  • Evaluate the intended application of equipment to ensure compliance with applicable spectrum standards as outlined in the NTIA Manual. Prepare spectrum certification requests for review and submission to relevant authorities.
Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related STEM field.
  • Security Clearance:
    • Must possess an active US DoD SECRET Security Clearance.
  • Experience:
    • Demonstrated experience in RF engineering related to DoD spectrum-dependent systems or in Navy/Joint Operational Spectrum Management and National Administrative Spectrum Management processes.
    • Proficiency in applying EMI, EMC criteria, or other engineering standards for operational spectrum coordination and compatibility assessments.
    • Experience in evaluating communications, combat systems, electronic warfare systems, navigation aids, and other spectrum-dependent systems, with the capability to conduct analytical evaluations of RF compatibility and develop frequency plans.
    • Experience in conducting spectrum EMI/EMC evaluations, performing engineering analyses to identify and address spectrum EMI issues, and implementing operational systems within the DoD.
    • Experience in creating and updating spectrum documentation, operational publications, position papers, white papers, and briefings related to spectrum considerations.
  • Specific Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years in the following areas:
      • Testing, modeling, or evaluating Spectrum Dependent Systems.
      • RF System Capabilities Analysis.
      • Systems Integration.
      • Spectrum Policy.
      • General RF and electronic technology experience.
      • EMI, EMC, RF Engineering, or Spectrum Management.
  • Desired Experience:
    • Experience in developing spectrum certification in accordance with the NTIA Manual of Regulations, preferably for airborne platforms including radars and communications systems.
    • Familiarity with systems operating in the MHz frequency band, including IFF interrogators and transponders.
  • Skills:
    • Expertise in Equipment Spectrum Certification and related National Spectrum Policies.
    • Proficient in RF analysis and report generation, with a solid understanding of current DoD spectrum-related systems and compliance evaluation against national standards.
    • Familiarity with EL-CID, EL-CID Online, HNSWDO, GEMSIS, and Spectrum SXXI.
