POSITION SUMMARY:
The Steel Reinforcement Specialist is responsible for the construction, erection, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures related to concrete steel reinforcement. This role requires the use of hand tools and power tools while adhering to local building regulations.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, or building plans to gather information regarding the materials needed and the dimensions of the structures or fixtures to be fabricated or installed.

• Select appropriate grades and types of steel reinforcement or other materials as specified.

• Prepare and execute layouts using measuring tools such as tape measures, squares, builders' levels, and lasers as instructed.

• Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials using pencils, chalk, spray paint, or other approved methods.

• Install materials according to precise measurements and locations utilizing approved bending techniques, shears, chop saws, and torch sets.

• Assemble cut and shaped steel reinforcement materials, fastening them together with tie wire, mechanical couplers, or welding as required by the project.

• Install pre-stressed and post-tensioned cable systems when specified in the project requirements.

• Actively engage in safety program meetings and safety inspections as requested.

• Contribute to a strong safety culture during group discussions.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Primarily outdoor work, exposing the individual to varying weather conditions.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must successfully pass pre-employment and regular drug screenings.

• Capable of wearing fall protection equipment and physically able to climb ladders and cranes.

• Frequent standing and walking (66% to 100% of the workday).

• Constant bending of neck and back (66% to 100% of the workday).

• Repetitive hand use for grasping (66% to 100% of the workday).

• Frequent hand use for pushing and pulling (33% to 66% of the workday).

• Occasional fine manipulation of hands (less than 33% of the workday).

• Frequent squatting and kneeling (33% to 66% of the workday).

• Occasional climbing of stairs and ladders (less than 33% of the workday).

• Occasional overhead reaching and lifting (less than 33% of the workday).

• Must be able to lift and carry at least 40 pounds (66% to 100% of the workday).


MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Requires constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Must be capable of making decisions and following through on all assignments.

• Creativity, independent judgment, and problem-solving skills are essential for determining the best methods to achieve desired results.

• Strong mathematical skills are necessary for calculating dimensions of components, reading blueprints, and effectively communicating with coworkers.

• Must not have a fear of heights and must work safely in compliance with safety policies.
