Medical Nurse Professional with Patient Care Expertise

At Medstar, we seek a skilled Registered Nurse-Infusion Nurse to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to provide professional care and make a meaningful impact on patients' lives.
About the RoleThis position involves delivering high-quality nursing care to patients from admission through discharge. The ideal candidate will collaborate with patients and their families, leveraging theory-based professional nursing care and coordinating care delivery with interdisciplinary teams.
Duties and Responsibilities- Contribute to Department Goals: Achieve established department objectives, adhere to policies, procedures, quality standards, safety standards, and MedStar SPIRIT Values. Comply with governmental and accreditation regulations.
- Patient Assessment: Collect and analyze significant patient information related to physical, psychological, socio-cultural, economic, spiritual, and lifestyle behaviors. Efficiently leverage available technology to inform care decisions.
- Nursing Process: Function autonomously, providing relationship-based care that promotes continuous, consistent, efficient, and accountable delivery of nursing care using the nursing process with a focus on patient experience.
- Problem-Solving: Identify current and potential complex problems of specific patient populations, critically analyze trends and changes in patient status, and plan appropriate interventions.
- Evidence-Based Practice: Incorporate evidence-based practice and research into patient care delivery, focusing on quality and safety.
- Patient Advocacy: Serve as a patient advocate by independently communicating clinical concerns, including ethical decisions, in a timely manner to other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Legal Boundaries: Practice within legal boundaries of nurse practice act and possess a theoretical understanding of universal ethical principles. Recognize ethical discourse in practice and may seek other resources in advocacy for support and counsel.
- Individualized Care Plans: Individualize patients' plans of care, focusing on short and long-range goals, and effectively use various teaching resources to meet the learning needs of patients and families.
- Effective Communication: Communicate patient information clearly and accurately in verbal and written format.
- Patient Safety: Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, identifying actual and potential patient safety issues and acting accordingly while incorporating HRO quality and safety principles.
- Leadership Behaviors: Demonstrate effective leadership behaviors, establishing priorities and delegating tasks to peers and ancillary staff as appropriate to scope of practice and unit requirements.
- Problem Identification and Resolution: Effectively use problem identification and resolution skills, focusing on the clinical scenario to resolve apparent concerns. Follow the chain of command by consulting with other healthcare professionals and seeking assistance as needed.
- Evaluating Patient Progress: Evaluate the patient's response to treatment and progress toward short and long-range goals, revising nursing interventions as appropriate.
- Discharge Planning:
- Professional Growth and Development: Independently identify resources and strategies to enhance professional growth and development, committing to lifelong learning.
- Unit, Department, Entity, and Organizational Goals: Support and contribute to the unit, department, entity, and organizational goals, inclusive of the mission, vision, and values.
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited academic nursing program preferred.
- Associate Degree in Nursing: If prepared at the associate degree in nursing level, required to enroll in a BSN program within 6 months of hire date and completion within 3 years required.
- Experience: 1-2 years RN experience required.
- Licenses and Certifications: Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state or jurisdiction of the facility seeking employment Upon Hire required, CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation by completion of introductory period within 30 Days required, RNC-OB C- Electronic Fetal Mon Perinatal nurses (labor and delivery, antepartum, antenatal testing) must obtain certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) from the National Certification Corporation (NCC) within 12 months from date of hire. New graduate nurses or new to specialty nurses (labor and delivery, antepartum, antenatal testing) will have 15 months from date of hire to obtain the EFM certification.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Basic math skills, Verbal and written communication skills, Basic computer skills required.
The estimated salary range for this position is $35.00-$56.91 per hour.
