Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Position Qualifications:Position Summary:SRL is the national reference laboratory for Sonic Healthcare USA. We pride ourselves on a work environment dedicated to mutual respect where trust and team spirit are an integral part of our daily routine.The Molecular Technologist II is responsible for performing moderate and high complexity clinical sample testing within the Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory. Performs daily laboratory testing and analyzes, reviews, and reports test results. Maintains proficiency on a wide variety of molecular methods and technologies. Assists in training of personnel and competency assessments.Duties & Responsibilities:Performs high complexity clinical assays according to written SOPsAdheres to departmental policies and procedures to include quality control, quality assurance, and safetyEnsures specimen integrity by adhering to the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing. General laboratory operations: keeping a neat work area, attending meetings, and complying with laboratory procedures and safety practicesAnalyzes reviews, and reports test and quality control results and takes remedial action when indicatedEnters and verifies data within the clinical LIMS systemMaintain analytical instruments, schedules authorized routine service, and maintains instrument documentationPerforms, enters, and maintains Quality Control assessments and dataGeneral laboratory housekeeping, including the regular cleaning of sinks, counters, and equipment as appropriateCreates and validates in-house control material and reagentsMonitors laboratory data systems, conducts statistical metric analysisPerforms and documents reagent Quality Control verificationFile documentation associated with daily production runsProvides technical feedback to the Lab Supervisor regarding workflow issuesDocuments laboratory inventory for assigned work areasPerform other laboratory duties as required and assignedTrains staff and assists in technical competency assessmentsMakes recommendations for process improvement to managementCompletes proficiency testing online entries as assignedEducation and Experience:Education:B.S. degree in Medical Technology or Chemical, Biological, or Physical Science AND 2 years of pertinent laboratory experienceOR an M.S. degree in Medical Technology or Chemical, Biological, or Physical Science AND one year of pertinent laboratory experienceLicensure and Certifications:RequiredN/APreferredCertified as Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Molecular Biology by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) OR equivalent certificationKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to understand and follow implemented written procedures and verbal instructions.Excellent attention to detail and ability to collect and analyze data using graphs, tables, charts, and mathematical calculationsExperienced with computer software including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook.
