Qualifications and Requirements:Previous production experience required in a food manufacturing facility.Computer literate in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is a plusLegible handwritingMath skills requiredInquisitive mind capable of deductive reasoning and logical thought processEffective interpersonal skills - including positive, diplomatic, proactive verbal communication and the ability to listen attentively and understand verbal informationAbility to make adequate judgments based upon process/product knowledgeAbility to operate effectively under moderate stressAbility to organize work and be efficient to meet time demandsAbility to read and understand documentation, on paper or in an electronic mediumAbility to review written and computerized information to identify errorsAbility to adapt to various environments, handle and accept change in a positive mannerDemonstrated ability to work without direct/constant supervisionAbility to learn SOPs and other written programs in order to support SQF system.Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to ensure production schedule is completed.General Responsibilities:Know, understand, communicate, and adhere to company policies and procedures, which include, but are not limited to, attendance, safety, HACCP, cGMP s, Preventive Controls for Animal Foods, etc.Responsible for ensuring all packaging and processing staff follow GMP s, SOP s, HACCP Guidelines, proper food handling safety guidelines, etc. to support our Food Safety and Quality Programs.Know, understand, monitor the quality control points and food safety control points.Responsible for entire production (packaging/processing) during second shift hours. Second shift processing lead reports to the second shift Production Lead.Receive raw protein materials/ingredients/packaging/corrugated/chemicals, complete inspection per procedure, document all receipts and communicate any issues.Load outbound trucks per procedure and ensure documentation/inspection is complete.Operate packaging equipment to include (but not limited to) packaging machine, conveyors, metal detector, sortation conveyor, case printer, etc.Operate processing equipment to include (but not limited to) Revo, Risco, Steam Mixer, Jerky Mixer, Ovens, L-Press, Steam Cooker, Grinder, Conveyor, Vmag Dumper, Mepaco, Anderson pumps, scales, etc.Communicate to appropriate personnel/supervision/management in a timely manner of issues/deviations that may result from but not limited to product quality, food safety issues, documentation errors, production issues, etc.Manage ingredient storage and cleanliness of dry and wet ingredient container storage.Maintain inventory of packaging material, corrugated, ingredients, labels, etc. Communicate inventory to Operations Manager for purchasing to avoid shortages.Monitor that product identification/lot codes are properly marked on product documentation to enable traceability requirements.Work with the quality to ensure product is scraped/packed after release. Any schedule changes must be communicated to optimize product release.Inspect equipment at assembly/disassembly and notify maintenance of any damaged/missing parts/pieces. Contact quality for equipment damage/missing parts that may impact the food safety/quality of product.Notify quality of any foreign material findings, product quality issues, etc. Segregate affected product and obtain necessary lot information for proper documentation.Monitor/enforce hold procedure when necessary.Ensure equipment calibrations (verification of calibration) is completed and meet requirements. Notify quality of any issues as equipment will need to be serviced if not within technical requirements.Train/monitor/enforce that the allergen program is adhered to. Any failures need to be communicated to quality for potential product holds.Ensure that employees practice proper GMP s while maintaining separation of contact and non-product contact surfaces.Train/monitor/enforce that net weight program is adhered to and documented.Ensure that product is covered and labeled throughout the process.Monitor/enforce that processing employees are wearing correct PPE.Monitor/enforce that LOTO is followed per procedure.Maintain proper documentation of programs, i.e., USDA, QA, projects, performance, chemical, and supplies. File paperwork as required in a timely manner.Participate in end of shift processing hand off review/documentation with respective leads to ensure that continued production is seamless and/or any issues are communicated.When applicable, work closely with QA Supervisor/QA Manager/QA Techs in collecting swabs of select areas to ensure cleaning is effective.Complete all documentation as required. Ensure that mistakes are properly corrected.Perform other duties as assigned.Primary Physical RequirementsThe employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.Work in a hot/cold environment.Ability to tolerate working temperatures under 50oF and/or greater than 90oFThe employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Work elevated, i.e. on a ladder, in a lift box, or scissor lift.
