Rail ManagerSchedule: Monday - Friday, 6am-3pm.Position Overview: The Rail Manager oversees all aspects of internal rail operations, ensuring efficient train movements, secure loading of materials, staff management, and adherence to safety protocols. This role demands strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to manage a complex transportation system effectively.Key Responsibilities: Coordinate train scheduling and movements to maximize efficiency and meet customer demands.Oversee rail car securing processes to ensure optimization and customer satisfaction.Lead a team of 40 employees, including rail strappers, operators, and weigh masters, providing training and support to meet performance targets.Enforce housekeeping and safety regulations to prevent accidents and injuries, conducting regular safety audits and inspections.Manage the maintenance of rail infrastructure, including tracks, signals, and rolling stock, scheduling routine inspections and repairs to minimize downtime.Develop and manage budgets for operating expenses, capital investments, and maintenance projects, monitoring expenditures and identifying cost-saving opportunities.Stay updated on industry standards and best practices.Address customer inquiries, complaints, and service issues promptly and professionally, working to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.Participate in long-term planning and decision-making to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of rail operations, identifying opportunities for expansion or improvement.Prepare regular reports on key performance metrics, such as on-time performance, safety incidents, and maintenance activities, presenting findings to management and stakeholders.Qualifications and Skills: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a management or supervisory role.In-depth knowledge of railroad operations, safety regulations, and industry best practices.Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to prioritize tasks, make decisions under pressure, and solve problems creatively.Proficiency in rail management software and systems, such as scheduling and maintenance tracking tools.Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.Successful completion of drug screening and physical examination required.
