Job Summary:                                                                                                         

This safety sensitive position plans, schedules, coordinates, and supervises subcontractors, workforce, and site activities for new construction and renovation projects. Effectively communicates with owners, owner's agents, project manager, and site staff.                                                                                              

Job Functions:

  1. Plans, schedules, and supervises all field employees and subcontractor staff
  2. Prepares and stages job sites for maximum efficiency
  3. Conducts site meetings, including safety talks, subcontractor meetings, contractor progress meetings, and scheduling
  4. Provides overall technical direction
  5. Represents the owner/general contractor to assure all construction-related activities performed by the contractor or subcontractors are performed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule
  6. Ensures finished product meets client's standards of work quality
  7. Completes construction projects on schedule
  8. Develops three week look-ahead schedules by identifying critical items
  9. Coordinates with key subcontractors and suppliers to ensure the project is properly staffed and materials are in place to meet critical path schedule
  10. Keeps daily logs of weather conditions, work performed, materials ordered, and materials consumed
  11. Oversees and implement job site safety program
  12. Works with architects and engineers to ensure that problems are solved in a manner that is most cost effective for owner and contractor
  13. Approves subcontractor and material supplier invoices for payment
  14. Performs project estimations and track spending through job closeout
  15. Acts in a design-build role from project conception to field implementation
  16. Performs other duties as needed

Job Qualifications:                                                                                      

  1. Candidate must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record with their insurance carrier. Where applicable, drivers need to comply with DOT Commercial Driver License regulations
  2. Candidate must have reliable means of transportation and maintain minimum insurance requirements on personal vehicles
  3. Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, contractors, superiors, professional trades, architects, engineers, subcontractors, building code authorities and owners
  4. Must have experience in managing project budgets, schedules, and work force
  5. Strong math background with ability to compute length area and volume
  6. Ability to read and correctly interpret blueprints / drawings, and take-off accurate measurements
  7. Sound understanding of accepted construction practices, techniques and procedures
  8. Keep current with new building trends and developments
  9. Knowledgeable of applicable building codes
  10. Ability to read and interpret specification manuals and CSI codes
  11. Knowledge of all phases of building construction, i.e., work commonly done by the various building trades
  12. Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, structural and finish systems
  13. Knowledge of building materials, tools, machines, building material costs, and wages

Physical Requirements:

  1. Frequent standing, walking, lifting, handling, reaching to shoulder
  2. Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 100 pounds
  3. Occasional sitting, kneeling, squatting, crawling, carrying, reaching, stooping, climbing stairs/ladders, and balancing 

Education Requirements / Experience:                                                                          

  1. 5 years of experience in the construction industry with at least 2 years supervisory experience
  2. Experience in multi-family new construction and renovation preferred
  3. Proficient with MS Office, Outlook, and current Windows Operating Systems
  4. Successful completion of the OSHA 10 or OSHA 30-hour courses preferred

Travel:

  1. Travel may be required for projects throughout the Midwest.
