COMMERCIALIZATION SCIENTIST SUMMARY:
The Commercialization Scientist is a liaison between R&D Development Scientists, Quality Control, and Production. This position requires a strong understanding of manufacturing, quality assurance requirements, and formulation basics. This person will be responsible for supporting all production departments throughout the commercialization of new products. This requires attending production planning meetings, reviewing schedules to identify new product runs, and communicating among departments the requirements to properly commercialize new products. Communication and collaborative work will be vital in this role. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Attend production runs throughout the commercialization process
Attend production meetings and pre-op meetings
Exhibit a strong understanding of manufacturing practices and be able to endure up to 8 hours working in a physical setting
Review daily orders for items needing controls and log requests and receipt
Communicate between departments any updates needed to formulas, manufacturing instructions, and/or specifications
Assist with routine specification reviews
Maintain a centralized document portal for populating essential information on new products
Assist with inter-departmental training as it relates to production and quality
Commercialization
Attend the first 3 production runs of new products and any test runs throughout the commercialization process Lead or co-lead with formulating scientist pre-production meetings and send meeting summaries to the group Communicate between departments updates needed to formulas, manufacturing instructions, and/or specifications
CI
Work with CI on testing new/replacement ingredients and/or vendors Submit raw material requests when needed
Packaging
Aid with the selection of packaging Work with packaging suppliers to size new boxes Lead packaging tests when needed PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
College Degree is preferred but not required. Previous food-centric industry experience preferred. Proficient in Excel and Word. Must have good communication and organizational skills.
