Job Profile:The Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Supervisor will manage FSQA staff, ensuring the effective implementation of company policies and procedures. This role involves maintaining a system of quality and reliability testing for products and development processes. The FSQA Supervisor reports directly to the FSQA Manager.Key Responsibilities:Supervisory Responsibilities:Hire, train, and oversee quality assurance and food safety staff.Manage daily workflows and maintain FSQA staff schedules.Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.Handle employee discipline and termination according to company policy.Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with superior interpersonal skills.Demonstrate strong managerial and diplomatic skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and company-specific software for inventory control and product shipments.Exhibit excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.Industry-Specific Knowledge:Thorough understanding of USDA regulations and directives.Trained in BRC, SQF, SPC, and/or Internal Auditing.HACCP Certification preferred.Focused on personal and food safety, driven by first-time quality, and able to support a food safety culture.Job Duties/Responsibilities:Implement, train, and manage processes to ensure products meet quality specifications prior to delivery.Communicate and train FSQA staff on new directives, policies, or procedures, addressing questions and maintaining morale.Identify and address quality defects and food safety issues, recommending solutions for recurring problems.Implement policies and procedures to improve daily operations.Ensure a safe and adequate work environment.Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.Achieve production goals set by departmental and company leadership.Represent the organization positively to employees, customers, industry, and community.Perform other assigned duties as required.Work rotating shifts and overtime as needed.Travel up to 10% per year for training and supplier visits.Conduct internal and external audits, preparing reports for plant, corporate, and sales.Perform root cause analysis for customer complaints, foreign material issues, and quality failures.Assist in maintaining QA programs such as Pest Control, Sample Shipments, mock Recalls, SPC Control, and Microbiological Testing.Support the FSQA Manager with special projects and act as a liaison in the Manager s absence.Generate monthly reports, perform mock recalls, input data electronically, and provide feedback on sanitation, plant, and customer quality reports.Assist and perform BRC, SQF, and customer/supplier food safety audits.Approve timesheets, prepare weekly schedules, and track personnel attendance.Stand for long periods, walk distances, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.Lead or work as part of a team to complete tasks.Education and Experience:Undergraduate Degree in Agricultural Sciences or a related field is a plus.Three to five years of supervisory experience in a further processing food manufacturing facility or related field required.Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, SQF, and OSHA.Additional Requirements:Must have reliable transportation.Ability to work a rotating and overtime schedule as needed.
