The Nurse Manager is responsible for the management of nursing practice and operations on a designated unit/service. This includes, but is not limited to, the management of clinical nursing practice, staff recruitment, retention, labor relations, supply chain and budget, staffing, employee performance evaluation, quality improvement, staff education, medical records, and internal and external regulatory and survey requirements.
The Nurse Manager collaborates with multiple professionals to support and coordinate the provision/management of patient care. He or she works closely with the Nursing Clinical Director, unit Dyad partner, and staff in ensuring that the Service/Unit maintains the highest standards of patient care and is responsive to the needs of the patient & family as well as the organization.
Responsibilities
In this highly visible role, you will be charged with the day-to-day operations of the Inpatient Psych Unit and CPEP. Your excellent people skills, organizational ability, and talent for communication will serve you well, as you lead your staff and build relationships with physicians and other hospital employees.
- Responsibilities include unit budget, recruitment, staff management, time schedules, maintenance of OMH/JCAHO Standards, and implementation and evaluation of Quality Performance Initiatives.
- Current unit and nursing Initiatives are reduction of the use of restraints and seclusion, reduction of LOS, Improving Patient Satisfaction through Purposeful Hourly Rounding, Q15min Safety Rounds, Relationship-Centered Care, and Customer Service.
- 24-hour responsibility for a 32-bed inpatient adult Psychiatric Unit.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing and master?s degree in nursing or healthcare-related field or be enrolled in a program preferred
Experience Requirements
3-5 years minimum demonstrated Clinical Psychiatry experience including progressive management required experience/success.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Licensing And Certification Requirements (if Applicable)
Licensed as a registered nurse, Issuing Agency: Department of Health/Office of Professions in the state of New York.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Issuing Agency: AHA

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $115494 - $173241 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
