The Head Miller responsibility is to oversee the Milling department. This individual will have direct management for a 7500 cwt a day, state-of-the art flour mill, flour storage and flour blending operations. They will establish and coordinate projects, manage and delegate tasks to team members, ensuring completion and accuracy.
HEAD MILLER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct management and supervision of mill and milling personnel, including maintenance workers.
- Schedule employees, raw materials, and ingredients to ensure productivity.
- Maintain product standards, equipment accuracy, and calibrations.
- Schedules and prioritizes the repair of equipment.
- Handle the purchasing and installation of new or used equipment, tools, and other items needed to perform jobs efficiently.
- Modify flow and design of present milling system(s) design of new systems.
- Manage maintenance department operations.
- Work with the QA/QC Lab and QS Management in maintaining a superior product and see that all products conform to specifications.
- Implement, plan, direct, and coordinate long-term and short-term project guidelines, timelines, and resources.
- Maintain mill maximizing flour yields. Maintain food safety and control pest management.
- Delegate tasks to the project team members to be completed, with a deadline/timeline provided.
- Oversee project team members and monitor the status of each part of the project and provide guidance/direction.
- Advise the executive/leadership team of any delays, issues, or discrepancies that may impact the project.
- Keep metrics and tracking of progress up to date to ensure timeliness and efficiency.
- Provide the executive/leadership team with accurate and timely reports on project statuses.
HEAD MILLER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Milling Science, Grain Science, Business, Management, or 5 years mill management experience.
- 2+ years' experience managing direct reports in grain conditioning/mill operations.
- Project management experience within a manufacturing/industrial/milling environment preferred.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills are a must.
- Ability to delegate effectively.
- Decisive decision-making skills.
- Ability to track and provide regular reports on progress.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work self-managed.
- Microsoft Office Suite.
- Available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This position requires physical efforts such as straining, pulling, lifting, working, and standing and walking on concrete floor.
- Exposure to elements such as noise, minable dust, cold and hot temperatures.
- Temperatures are more than 100 degrees and below freezing.
- Exposure to manufacturing equipment hazards, especially forklifts.
- Standing and walking on concrete floor.
- Work in elevated areas.
- Climbing of ladders.
