Estimator - Heavy Civil

System One is seeking a Civil Estimator for a direct hire opportunity in San Antonio Tx.
General Summary:
Working under minimal supervision, the Estimator is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting Contract Documents (specifications, drawings, and reference information) to develop detailed, comprehensive cost estimates for a variety of construction projects. This position is required to closely interact with Engineers, Sub-Contractors, and Suppliers to assure the timely and accurate submission of each project estimate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Attend pre-bid meetings or site visits to determine project parameters and verify existing conditions.
Read and analyze bid plans, technical documents, and specification to determine the full scope of work and bid requirements.
Performs the quantity take-off reports, presentations and pricing effort for internal reviews and budgets. Maintains a digital record of those take-offs on Company devices.
Collect and analyze data to estimate the time, money, materials, equipment, subcontracted, and labor required to complete the project.
Prepare and complete cost estimates in Heavy Bid
Obtain material and subcontract quotes from vendors and subcontractors.
Manage vendor and subcontractor quote comparisons and present to team for review.
Manage comparisons between self-perform estimates and subcontractor quotes and present to team for review.
Build good relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
Update and maintain HBC’s vendor and subcontractor database.
Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors on estimates.
Prepare final bid proposal and proposal or technical documents with estimating team.
Develop preliminary project plan and schedule with other team members.
Demonstrates independent thinking and initiative on a consistent and regular basis.
This position is office-based working during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
Experience:
Heavy Civil Construction estimating: 5 years (Required)
Viewpoint: 1 year (Required)
Bachelors Degree
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft programs, Bluebeam, Adobe, HCSS (Heavy Bid).
Additional working knowledge preferred but not required on AutoCAD, Agtek, MicroStation.
Organizational Relationships:
Reports to the Estimating Manager and/or Division Vice President. Works with other employees at all levels and outside vendors.
