Engineer IV - Control

The Engineer IV - Control will...

Primary role of the position is to develop, project manage and execute CAPEX projects as the project manager and/or the senior lead in the areas of Automation & Controls. As a control engineer leader, you will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Design and Development:
    • Identify and understand the company's needs related to control systems.
    • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
    • Implement solutions to enhance control system efficiency.
  • Technical Support and Mentorship:
    • Provide technical support to junior engineers and team members.
    • Serve as a mentor, sharing expertise and guiding less experienced colleagues.
    • Work with maintenance to remedy breakdowns.
  • System Configuration and Optimization:
    • Configure, standardize, and optimize control systems for equipment and processes.
    • Define system requirements and participate in system configuration.
    • Act as a liaison between end-users and system developers and OEM's.
    • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards
  • Project Management:
    • Develop and execute projects from start to finish, ensuring successful implementation. Define project scopes, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders. Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure successful execution.
    • Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of control systems.
    • Manage project costs, schedules, and budgets.
    • Develop business cases where automation and control upgrades can improve the thru-put and costs for a given work center or process
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements for the Engineer IV - Control:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience working in the controls and automation industry.
  • Experience in the steel automation industry.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with engineering-related software.
  • Knowledge of lean principles.
  • Knowledge of PLC Programming is required. Familiarity with Rockwell and Siemens controllers is preferred.
  • HMI development is required. Familiarity with Aveva InTouch is preferred.
  • AC and DC drive knowledge required.
  • Expertise with EtherNet/IP, Industrial Ethernet and Profibus Networks (CAN) is valuable.
  • Knowledge of automated equipment systems, robotics, and material handling is preferred.
