Hours: 6:30 AM - 2:30 PM


Type: Full-time; Temporary (8-12 weeks expected)


We are seeking a skilled short-term Cook to join our Kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing and cooking meals for young children, is ready to start quickly and ideally has knowledge of ServSafe Food Handling guidelines.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook nutritious meals for preschool-aged children 5-8 classes (menu and recipes provided)
  • Prepare Breakfast, Lunch and Snack, daily and timely
  • Ensure compliance with menus and arrange alternatives when necessary that meet CACFP / Health guidelines
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area
  • Ensure that all food is stored and prepared safely according to ServSafe guidelines
  • Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed with the assistance of the Kitchen Aids
  • Coordinate allergen alternatives through color coded system with teachers and staff regarding any dietary restrictions or allergies
  • Sanitize and clean kitchen workspace after foodservice is completed.


Requirements:
  • Previous experience in food service, preferably in a school or daycare setting
  • Knowledge of ServSafe Food Handling regulations
  • Knowledge of CACFP guidelines, preferred.
  • Ability to plan and prepare nutritious meals, by the recipe, for 8 classrooms of children
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Individuals with Spanish language or Haitian Creole language skills are strongly encouraged to apply.
