FSQA DirectorPurpose and Scope/General Summary: We are looking for a FSQA Director to join our Prepared Foods team This person will provide company-wide leadership and direction for quality assurance/quality control and food safety functions.The Director interfaces and directs, advises, and supports operations at all production and warehouse facilities with any quality, regulatory, and food safety practices. Manages and advises regulatory staff with any labeling or regulatory issues. Support and represent the company with government agencies, vendors, customers, and co-packers. Also, directs Customer Service/Sales and advises Consumer Affairs on complaints or technical questions.Our ideal candidate will line in or near Council Bluffs, IA.Responsibilities:Lead, supervise, and manage FSQA management and direct-reporting personnel, ensuring continuing professional development, training, and overall employee well-being at all processing facilities.Strong leadership and management skills in a high paced environment.Provide scientific expertise and serve as a subject matter expert for programs and activities related to food safety/microbiology, regulations, and quality systems.Provide technical oversight and guidanceforquality related functions at allSwift Prepared Foodsmanufacturing facilities, co-manufactures and warehouses.Provide strategic leadership, guidance, and risk management for corporate food safety and quality programs and systems to include, but not limited to, HACCP, Preventative Controls, SQF or other BRC-related programs, USDA Process Verified Program and customer or 3rd party audit-driven requirements and policies.Oversee all plant HACCP, pre-requisite quality programs, and all quality/food safety related programs to meet regulatory and/or customer requirementsAssure sampling for raw, WIP and finished product in compliance with label and specification declarations.Oversee plant sanitation programs, pre-operational, and operational programs to ensure sanitary standard operating procedures (SSOPs) and regulatory requirements for food manufacturingProvide technical support to corporate senior management, Sales and Production Management.Overseelabeling and master specification registry for allSwift Prepared Foodsmanufactured, distributed and sold products.Maintain shelf life requirements and Listeria monitoring programs to show continuous improvement.Comprehensive knowledge of statistical process controls. Ability to drive continuous improvement with Quality Programs.Support Continuous Improvement with standardized work,science basedproblem solving and utilizing real time tools to predict quality attributes. Implement SPC, control charts, visual management, and other lean manufacturing tools.Champion quality and food safety initiatives tocreate a Food Safety culture and mindset.Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Graduate Degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Biological Sciences, or closely related disciplinesisstrongly preferred.4+ years of experience in QA field strongly preferred.HACCP Certifiedwith a comprehensive knowledge of Microbiology and Shelf Life programsMust be willing to travel as needed to support business needs; up to 50%.Complete knowledge and experience developing and managing HACCP, Preventative Controls, GMP, SSOP, SQF and/or other BRC and customer-driven quality and food safety requirements and programs.Excellent team building, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Demonstrated success managing and or supervising multi-disciplinary teams and programs.Must be a professional, customer driven manager of producing high quality food products while achieving company objectivesComprehensive knowledge of USDA-FSIS regulations and requirements for meat and poultry processing.Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodationAs a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations.
