Description
THE POSITION:
Reporting to the Lead FacilitiesCoordinator, the Facilities Technician assists with the maintenance of NewHampshire Electric Cooperatives many facility locations, substations, and broadbandsites. The FT oversees the buildings, building systems, and grounds to ensure asafe, secure, healthy, and efficient workplace. The facilities technician will perform maintenance and repairs for allthe buildings and grounds to reflect NHECs image, values, vision and toportray NHECs image and value to its members and the community.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Providessafe, healthy, and efficient work environment through appropriate anddependable operation and maintenance of NHEC buildings structures and systemsincluding but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, life-safety devices,alarm system, access control, and traffic control.
- Enhancessecurity and safety of the workplace by performing or overseeing theperformance of routine testing and maintenance of facility security, fire alarmand sprinkler system, UPS systems, underground storage tanks and monitoringwells, and emergency stand-by generating systems. Responds to vendor and internal notificationof security/safety alarms.
- Performsroutine, minor maintenance and repair of building lighting and plumbingfixtures and systems. Ability to troubleshoot and repair building furnishings,equipment, doors, and windows is necessary. Obtains and oversees vendor-provided maintenance and repair wherenecessary.
- Communicates,coordinates, and cooperates with NHEC Safety Department and personnel onfacility safety issues and concerns. Repairs or facilitates vendor repairs of identified facility safetyrepairs/improvements.
- Coordinatesand oversees NHECs solid waste disposal processes including the properdisposal of electronic wastes, batteries, utility poles and other controlledand hazardous wastes pursuant to NHECs Universal Waste procedure.
- Improvescorporate safety performance by maintaining a safe and clean workingenvironment, participating in department safety meetings, adhering to EmployeeSafety Rules and Procedures, recognizing at-risk behaviors and conditions, andtaking corrective actions or communicating with NHECs Safety Department.
- Processesrequisitions for routine facilities operation and maintenance functionsincluding snow plowing, lawn maintenance, trash/recycling removal, orderingheating fuels, etc.
- Enhancesfunction and appearance of facilities by performing minor repairs, painting,furniture procurement, designing office space as needs change, and the like.
THE PERSON:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Advancedcourses in building operation and energy efficiencies, as well as accountingand business are helpful.
- A valid New Hampshire drivers license isrequired. CDL B is helpful.
- 5 years experience in facilities maintenance, orrelated fields is required.
- Continuing education is required to remain updatedon local, state and federal building codes.
- Must be self-motivated, organized, andproductive. Must be able to inspectfacilities and identify health and safety problems.
- Must be able to organize, schedule, andperform maintenance activities to ensure that facilities meet NHECstandards.
- Must be able to diagnosebuilding, furniture, and equipment problems and make repairs or contract thework out.
- Must be able to maintainrecords of requisitions and coordinate the related maintenance and check forquality control.
- Must be able tocommunicate effectively.
- Ability toassemble and move office furniture and equipment as required.
- Must be able to use a personal computer fore-mail and record keeping.
- Must become familiar and adept at our IVUE softwarein respect to accounting, purchase order creation, and invoice authorization.
- In-depthknowledge in building construction, roof systems, electrical distribution, building maintenance, purchasing, andcontracting. Knowledge in the use ofgeneral office equipment is required.
- Assisting all levels of management, in alldepartments, to meet the goals of the Members and employees of NHEC.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations, NEC, andbuilding codes is helpful.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must beable and willing to workday shift, some evenings, and weekends as needed. Must be able and willing to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and be able to work from ladders, lifts, andstaging. Occasional lifting of 75100pounds may be required. Must be able towork with common cleaning products.
Must bewilling to be on-call to respond to emergencies and alarm conditions.
The followingactivities may be required occasionally: Light pick-up and delivery; snow removal; lawn & yard maintenance;changing light bulbs & fixtures; painting; other duties as deemednecessary.
Assistancewith power restoration efforts is required of all employees. It may be required during regular businesshours that employees will be assigned functions to support power restorationand for some employees that may be different from their normal duties. In addition, such assistance may requireworking nights, weekends and holidays which may involve considerable extrahours. To meet this working condition,all employees are required to provide a personal phone number where they may bereached after hours. This number willonly be used for internal purposes.

COMPENSATION:
NHEC views compensation in a holistic and transparent manner. The salary range for this role is targeted at $53,000 $63,000.
