Starting from customer needs and our industry-leading EO heritage, you will architect a system, derive spacecraft requirements and work with bus and payload suppliers to make that vision a reality. Along the way you will interface with in-house imagery, ground systems, and operation experts as well as external suppliers and customers. You will have the opportunity to make a real impact, the flexibility to explore new ideas, shape your own future, and the chance to build something meaningful in space that transforms how we see our world.Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or related field of study5-10 years of experience with space systems engineering: earth imaging systems preferredUS Citizenship and is willing/able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance at TS/SCI levelExperience with the full system engineering life cycle: architecture and ConOps development, system and subsystem requirements definition, design reviews, assembly integration and test, verification and validation, and operationsDesign experience with at least one spacecraft bus subsystem: C&DH, Thermal, Power, ADCS/GNC, Structure, Communication, Propulsion. Solid understanding of all other subsystems and interfaces between themAn understanding of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) space environments and conditions (radiation, thermal, orbital mechanics, etc.) and impacts on system performancePreferred Qualifications: Master or Doctorate in a relevant fieldDirect experience on at least one earth observation space programIn depth space system engineering/analysis experience with one or more of the following preferred subsystems: RF Communications, Command and Data Handling, Encryption, Electrical Power System, Thermal SubsystemFamiliarity with software architecture, satellite bus flight software in particularFamiliarity with laser communication terminals and intersatellite link techniques, methods, and principlesFamiliarity with fault tolerance, redundancy strategies, and interpretation of reliability predictions and resultsA willingness to mentor junior engineers, sharing expertise and supporting team growth, advancement and successionExperience with technology road mapping and business developmentActive TS/SCI clearanceLife with Us: There is a reason we boast awards like Best Employer, Best Place to work, Top employer, candidate experience winner. The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.● The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $104,000.00 - $174,000.00 annually.For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
