Position Summary:
Complete the in-house Nurse Aide training program satisfactorily by meeting all program requirements,including the clinical component. (Required to successfully complete next available class.) This paideducational program will prepare you to be a Nursing Assistant in the hospital setting. This program consistsof classroom and clinical instruction. You will learn to assist nursing staff with the direct day to day care ofpatients and families by performing a variety of patient care duties as well as providing and maintainingpositive interactions with every patient/family/visitor you encounter.
Essential Functions:
Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possibly taking blood glucose measurements and recording intake and output.
Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly.
Perform other job-related duties, within scope of practice, as delegated by the Unit Director/Supervisor, HouseSupervisor, Nursing Team Coordinator, and/or Administrator.
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent - Preferred
Minimum Work Experience
Acute care patient experience preferred.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be
able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
Required Licenses
Nursing Assistant active on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry within 6 months of completing training program.
