In this role you will act as the technical SME for IT Data Governance and Information Management, focusing on Microsoft Purview and collaboration protections. You’ll translate governance needs into enforceable configurations and monitoring across unstructured data. You will assess, validate, and remediate controls, supporting audits and regulatory requests. The position emphasizes governance, privacy, and risk management within Microsoft 365 environments, contributing to the organization’s protection maturity. This is a hands-on role with cross-functional collaboration and measurable impact.

- Configure and maintain Microsoft Purview controls to support governance and information protection
- Collaborate with business, cybersecurity, compliance, and infrastructure teams to translate requirements into technical policies
- Manage labels, rules, and monitoring for sensitivity, retention, access, and sharing controls
- Support SharePoint and Microsoft 365 environments regarding unstructured data governance
- Perform repository and permission assessments to identify risks and gaps
- Monitor policy performance, investigate issues, and support remediation of weaknesses
- Develop standards, procedures, and evidence for audits and compliance
- Support discovery and regulatory requests, cyber incidents, and audits
- Participate in tabletop exercises and readiness activities
- Produce dashboards on policy coverage, exceptions, and risk trends
- Conduct on-the-spot reviews to validate control design and effectiveness
- Identify automation opportunities and improvements to governance maturity
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Purview and its governance capabilities
- Experience with SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365 collaboration controls
- Understanding of unstructured data governance, retention, access, and audit needs
- Ability to configure controls based on governance requirements
- Experience monitoring policy effectiveness and troubleshooting
- Strong analytical and documentation skills
- Familiarity with PowerShell, reporting tools, dashboards, or automation (preferred)
