Panels Plus is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Welder to join our team In this key role, you'll use cutting torches, grinders, and other metalworking equipment to complete welding projects and help bring our customers' products to life. Your expertise in GMAW welding and related techniques will be essential in producing high-quality, precision parts.

About Panels Plus

Panels Plus designs and manufactures panelizing equipment for constructing wall panels, floor cassettes, and associated subcomponents. Panels Plus products help those in the off-site, modular, and prefabricated building industries.


Classifications:

Entry level welder. Works with close supervision and relies on both blue prints and fixtures to meet any cosmetic specs to Lou-Rich or any internal or external customer requirements. Required to fill out necessary paperwork (i.e. Production Job Records, Non-conformances, timecards, and Product Identification Tags, In-process Inspection Records and Facility maintenance Records).


More advanced welding includes operating of two types of welding equipment and passing internal leak tests within Lou-Rich testing capacity. These welders should have the ability to setup and weld using fixtures and prints, capacity to understand weld symbols and required to weld a minimum of two types of material. Understand and use documentation of welding procedures and setup sheets.


Certified welders would weld with a variety of equipment, mig, tig or gas. They may also be required to fabricate parts with no fixtures but have access to prints. Required to have the capacity to trouble shoot and operate complex fixtures and weld a large variety of materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, mild steel, galvanized and brass, etc. along with training of other welders.


Essential Functions:

  • Mark-up incorrect drawings and bills of material, submit to engineering and plan for change.
  • Communicate with engineers and designers on problems regarding production tools.
  • Fabricate components from blueprints and verbal instructions.
  • Perform assignments in accordance with written quality procedures.
  • Uses cutting torches, grinders, etc. and similar metal working equipment to complete welding projects.
  • Ensure compliance to safety rules and procedures.

Requirements:
  • The welder is required to be on their feet for up to twelve hours using their hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear around machinery. They will also be required to frequently walk, stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • The welder must be capable of lifting and moving up to 15 pounds; frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus on optical devices.
  • Individuals will work near moving mechanical parts of machinery and electrically activated devices.
  • Individuals are occasionally exposed to airborne particles.
  • Perform math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Knowledge of decimals, fractions, and metric/English conversions
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities that result in reducing variation and waste in the manufacturing process. Using a specified training format, work closely in training new welders
  • Lift and position parts into fixtures

Panels Plus Training Requirements:

· Applicable training will be completed by following the syllabi (Human Resources, Safety, IFS - Timeclock, IFS - Navigation, ISO) for each new hire and that will be verified by the Employee Orientation & Job Qualification form within the first 60 days of employment.


· Applicable training will be completed by following the Press Room Training Matrix form (F4400-041). Effectiveness of welding training guidelines will be determined by employee knowledge and demonstration of learned concepts. Additional training after the first several weeks of on the job training will be determined by the Supervisor in preparation to operate on their own as needed. Any follow up training will be evaluated and provided at the 60-day review or as deemed necessary for the position.
